Polystyrene/sepiolites nanocomposite foams: Relationship between composition, particle dispersion, extensional rheology, and cellular structure

The main objective of this work is to analyze how the cellular structure foamed polystyrene based (PS) nanocomposites, produced by gas dissolution foaming, affected extensional rheological behavior polymer matrix and dispersion degree particles. These composites have been with different types natural organomodified sepiolites contents these were characterized shear dynamic rheology, respectively. results obtained indicate that controls foam degeneration mechanisms; meanwhile, way in which particles are dispersed PS nucleation mechanisms. Results also that, systems, characteristics mainly defined occurs. Therefore, improving a key approach reduce cell size 90%, respect pure polymer. • Blends treated produced. Extensional properties PS/SEP was measured. Nanocomposite materials foaming process. Strong relationships founded between structure. Rheology determine appearance phenomena.
